Tanglewood

Tanglewood is the legendary summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO), founded in 1937 by conductor Serge Koussevitzky on a donated 200-acre estate amid the Berkshire Hills, evolving from early tent concerts into a world-class outdoor music festival and academy. Spanning the Koussevitzky Music Shed (with its famed canopy for pristine acoustics), the Seiji Ozawa Hall, and expansive lawns perfect for picnics, it hosts the BSO’s annual June–August season of orchestral masterpieces, pops, jazz, film scores, and popular artists, alongside the Tanglewood Music Center’s intensive training for emerging musicians since 1940, drawing over 500,000 visitors for transformative evenings under the stars.
